Tips for the Newbies

• Always get permission to hunt on private properties.It would definitely ruin your day if you went to jail for trespassing.By asking permission you are showing the landowner respect and more than likely they will say yes.
• Before hunting parks find out what the rules and regulations are.Different cities have different rules and laws for their parks.
• Always replace your plugs after recovering your target
• If you can afford it get a probe or a pin pointer.These tools makes recovering your target much easier without doing excess digging.Also keeps you from accidentally damaging the target you are recovering.
• Remember to bring a spare set of batteries. It is a bummer running out of juice in a middle of a good hunt.
• I find it wise to dig all targets especially when at a old home site.Back in the old days they didn't use pull tabs so if you get those readings dig it! It may be a gold ring or gold coin!
• Do research on places to hunt.The internet and libraries are excellent places to do research.Google maps and google earth are two I use most often.The old timers in your hometown may have valuable leads they can share with you.
