Three reasons why the hobby metal detection is the best hobby

When dug my first dime mercury years ago I came convinced that metal detecting hobby was the best hobby. Today I feel the same way.

There are three reasons why.

First, is increasing the price of silver at all time highs and with the economy as bad is a form like him, will continue to increase the prices of the plateado.Con a metal detector, you can find enough coins will eventually pay for the cost of your listener and possibly more.

Every day, listeners are finding rings and silver coins.

What other hobby there is will give a return on investment that is linked with the silver price? the coin collecting is another hobby that can benefit from, and what better way to collect coins than using a metal detector?

Secondly, it is often ignored benefit exercise while metal detection.

Need to be constantly walking, and folded down to dig has a positive effect on your cuerpo.Queman calories, get a cardio workout and are toning your stomach all at the same time.

If you engage with metal detecting around areas of ancient peoples Ghost, especially in the East, like myself, will increase its profit for the ejercicio.Necesitará walk or go on excursions by miles in order to locate ancient settlements.

The wonderful advantage about this kind of exercise is that you being without quejarse.Se fun, and the time flies by.

The third reason, why I think metal detecting hobby is the best, because it can lead to travel to places where you never imagined what would be going to.

Detection of metal and treasure hunting has become my career. When I started the fans years ago never dreamed that it would take to places which others can only dream with. However, I am not alone.

I have friends who are professional treasure who have traveled to exotic locations in search of riches and adventure hunters.

I know many b.a. to holiday in Spa areas around the world by that metal detectable in the playas.Algunos them have had the luck to find enough jewels of gold and silver that pays for your trip.
The number of areas where you can use a metal detector allows the opportunity to enjoy this great hobby and benefit from it, so each.

You can never find fame or fortune in the hobby, but you'll find friends, good health and many lost objects that can pay for your time.

Water Metal Detecting

A beach or close from a script? Wonderful! You can use the white metal detector. Although aquatic hunting may be among the most rewarding and endearing, are also among the most difficult.

Before leave on your next adventure with its white metal detector treasure hunt, should survey the area to be searching. If you are on the beach, should go only in water during low tides. Do not enter the water at high tide. You will need to study the tides for the area to be hunting.A good idea is also to use a map and plot your route search. the map doesn't scale or even very accurate, so only use to mark their territory and to choose an area to search.

If you are in the ocean, note that the sand and the ocean constantly moving and cambiar.Es part of a dynamic system that includes wind, the sand and animal plant. Therefore, there are many factors that influence in the ocean and therefore their hunt.

Try to find what they are called channels; "cuts" in the agua.Y find areas with more heavy, the rocks of sand and tiny. When this happens, you can be sure that it has been moving sand. Generally, these are areas where it is likely to find ancient coins, and if you dig deep enough gold perhaps.

You can go hunting water anytime during the year, to be the best in summer and often overcrowded more time.Other times of the year are also alleged buenos.Por so if you do not live on a beach that you can go to any surface water body, but weather may not be quite as pleasant depending on where you are. From what we hear, metal detection does not work well in the ice: If you're going to go treasure hunting during the summer on the beach be prepared to see lots more people. You can always early in the morning or late at night.

If you are not finding anything, not you preocupes.Tomar his white more metal detector and the práctica.Y you still not find anything, don't worry todavía.Recuerde than sand movements and make ocean tides have and affect the Arenas.Para next tide could move some treasure your way and you can find with its white metal detector.

What is the best metal detector?

If there is a definitive answer to this question, the undertaking of that machine is likely to put your competition out of business. The question should be, what is the best scanner to me? I noticed a low end metal detector, in the hands of the right person and the right, find many great destinations that were lost on a site covered by some of the most popular machines high-end circumstances. How is this scenario possible?

There are many factors that help or hinder objectives of finding in a given area and influence what detector would be the best for usted.incluyen, but not limited to, is the mineral soil, moisture, technical coverage and mentality of user at the time of the search user control unit, the size and type of coil, knobs.

User mindset is so important in determining success. I don't have a mindset of treasure hunting, but rather a treasure find thought process. Within minutes, let the old foundry building in the Avenue of Disston of Tarpon Springs, Florida.I have never hunted this site and I am aware of anyone that ever find allí.Sé than when the building was built and has a high expectation of finding silver, as well as Buffalo and war Nickels. My search techniques is fundamental here too.

What area is well covered and techniques will impact success more to the choice of instrument to search for any sitio.El smelter construction site loaded with spam, as he was recently installed a new roof and new and old roofing nails, as well as the nuts and bolts of a foundry will be abundant. The search area is only about 10 per 100 feet and slowly overlapping coverage to walk the length will be used first. Below will change the pattern and methodically walking width.

April is not normally a very humid month in Central Florida. This year is an exception and the ground has a good level of moisture with a couple of days of good rain this week. This will allow me to use a detector with a 3-4 inches for an area very quaint work coil and not lose too much depth. An area not telenoticias and land dry that they lead me to use a 7-8-inch coil or an 8 by elliptical 9 inch.

I do not know the mineral content of Foundry site but soil will balance my scanner to start the search. Many less than half the price of detectors are calibrated by minerization land factory and cannot accommodate the instrument except for lowering the sensitivity setting to control the noise signal soil mineralization. Adjust other settings in the detector can increase their level also. Here is a secure method of testing to see if a detector is better than another. Hunt a site specific or part of it very carefully, and then look again in the same way but lower their level of sensitivity to half.If you can say that on the second search finds were really missed goals then hunting area again but this time reduce rejection down iron only. If you find enough goals at this time to justify another search, keep all configurations of the same level, but increase sensitivity to the level of the first search. Many of its objectives are now hunting will be 2-4 the junk or spam due to rejection control levels. This experiment should be evidence that objectives losses are probably about levels of control that a detector that is better than another.I used about metal detectors of 15 different manufacturers in my almost 40 years of the discovery of the Treasury.I know that listeners best for me, but a different setting and sites will even change my mind about what is the best.

Here are the results to this test to work with my favorite detector Foundry site Saturday pasado.Un dollar average 1898 Barber was a surprise as the turn 2 5th century Nickels.Esperaba were find coins of WWII era and very fine S 43 mercury and 43 and 45 nicknames war met my treasure to find ways of thinking.A 1939 and a 1942 cents wheat were welcome additions along with a 1964 dime Roosevelt.Yes, dug up a bunch of garbage to be able to locate those nickels, but I know what is the best metal detector.

Analysis of results of the secrets of metal detection

Recently, I decided it needed a hobby, something would enter me out of the House, the fresh air and give me a little exercise too. Therefore, with the matter to me came out and I bought a metal by Council of a friend of mine detector.

I what could be better thought, being out in the open, walking up and down and find hidden treasure, as well.?

Therefore, a few week ago uploaded my new car metal detector and went to a stretch of desert coast not too far from where we live. It was a bit cold and there was a breeze that blows into the sea, but does not bother me as he was excited about what might find hidden than sand and rocks.

The metal detector has been activated, put the headphones on my head, at least my ears would be protected from the cold and went to my first sweep of the selected area. Not long after that I started began to light drizzle, but led to waiting beep all important on headphones.

Two hours later, I was soaked to the skin, freezing cold and beep only I heard that you resulted in search of some bits of old junk oxidised.

When I got back home he telephoned my friend and told him what had succeeded. burst into laughter, that not that I feel better at all.

So I decided to deepen this más.Quería fans know where can I buy the best equipment which does not cost me a fortune.

Needed to find out how to get permission to go on private lands and find the treasure.

I needed to know what to look for even before it came out looking.

Metal detection can be a fascinating pastime, but like most things you need to know all the tips and secrets to really benefit from it.

A Review of Popular Metal Detector Products

Metal detectors come with a control box that contains the circuitry, controls, speaker, batteries and the microprocessor; a shaft that connects the control box and the coil; a search coil that actually senses the metal; and a stabilizer that keeps the unit steady as it is moved. The performances of the detectors are based on the features of these parts.

Tesoro Metal Detectors

At less than 2½ pounds, the Tesoro Golden Max lets you control what you want to find. It is the lightest detector in the market with full size depth, sensitivity, four tone audio ID and a user adjustable Notch Filter Discriminate. The Tesoro DeLeon is a Target Identification Detector (TID), named after the famous explorer Ponce de Leon, who searched Florida looking for treasure and the Fountain of Youth. The DeLeon is designed as an easy to use, turn-on-and-go detector.

Whites Metal Detectors

The Whites E-series metal detectors include the following models. DFX(TM) brings together the ultimate combination of sophisticated microprocessor technology, and turn-on-and-go simplicity. It has an operational frequency of 3 kHz and 15 kHz. The XLT® Metal Detector is high-performance simplicity and versatility at its best. It has five programs to choose from along with 10 Basic Adjustments, and 29 Pro Options. The MXT has three completely separate operating modes -- gold prospecting, coin/jewelry, or relic.

Prizm series

The Prizm series include Prizm II, III, IV, and V. All have a pinpoint mode that zeroes in on target location, instruction videos that show when and where to hunt.

Fisher Metal Detectors

Dr. Gerhard Fisher, a German immigrant, obtained the first patent ever issued on aircraft radio direction finders in the late 1920s. Fisher's 1266-X comes factory shipped with 8-inch Open Center Spider Coil, instruction manual and Fisher's 5 Year Warranty. It has a duel discrimination system, which will allow you to search at a great depth. This unit does not work very well on wet saltwater beaches.

Garrett Metal Detectors

The Garrett Super Scanner hand-held detector can detect a medium-sized pistol from distance of 9"" and even a tiny 1" piece of jewelry. Simplicity of operation of this metal detector is unmatched. The Garrett SuperWand Security metal detector is one of the most popular metal detectors. It provides uniform sensitivity 360° along the scan area and pinpointing at the tip to detect weapons and other metal objects with extreme accuracy. The Garrett Magna Scanner PD 6500 Walk through metal detector has some unique features. Its ultra-enhanced multi-coil detection field pinpoints the exact location of any metal object within 33 distinct areas of the archway.

Bounty Hunter Metal Detectors

Bounty Hunter metal detectors are made by First Texas Products. The Tracker IV priced at $160 is streamlined in appearance, with only two operating controls and a mode selection switch. The Tracker IV has a built-in Automatic Ground Tracker that maintains ground balance. The Bounty Fast Tracker offers value for your money. It is a user-friendly instrument that delivers effective performance over a wide range of conditions and applications.

Minelab Metal Detectors

Beach Gridding - Land And Water Metal Detecting Technique

Many are wondering what metal detecting method works best on the beach? No doubt, always reply, "gridding Beach". This technique allows a detectorist covering a small area of beach and find more coins, jewels and other treasures of beach that individuals that zig-zag, everything on the beach. In a two hour period cover about a square of 20 feet above land and 15 in the water. On Earth, I can always tell you where someone has used this technique and move to another section of the beach, because very little will be cuadriculadas sections. It takes concentration to be a gridder, but the rewards worth the effort.

Gridding beach is easier to do in the land that most water beaches and there are three patterns of gridding to choose. Straight pattern is where to start from high Beach line and walk a straight line to the line of low tide. At the end of each point on which to step foot turn around and walk the other way round and slowly overlap their oscillations detector. It is important to mark covered territory and my favourite method is dragging my feet. Others like dragging its scoop sand. This allows you to visually monitor the covered area.Use this same technique on the water, but some beaches yards rushing waves makes it necessary to have Visual posts or bookmarks (in water and land) for guiarle.Árboles, cars, life guard stands etc. Mark my way as walking towards land, while buoys and stationary boats, etc., I conducted through water.

The second pattern is called straight sideways. It is identical to straight but detects side turning once gone 15 to 20 pies.Yo does not use this pattern of method or gridding water beaches most because it is harder to use markers as a guide. The exception to this rule is detecting beaches as the coast of the Gulf of Florida, where the tide normally not destroy left marks in the sand by me and my scoop sand.

The third pattern is circular and is best used in large beaches. Go to the center of the beach and to the location of his first play, start a circular pattern. It is not possible to move on foot at each endpoint, as there is no end points on a circle as the enlargement of the circle pattern as vaya.Este gridding Beach method is gaining popularity. Gridding Beach, regardless of the pattern, is a good tool for the creation of a collection of highly distributed State rooms. A detection friend of mine found 35 different States with 47 different neighborhoods in your collection.

Gridding is great! Also, does the crowd the playa.Los hunting grounds Stadium of farm land, school and sport hunting, renewed lots and public parks are all good place to use one or more of these patrones.En areas highly where hunted are ancient and valuable coins in the decline in numbers, using two of these methods to cover the same area will produce some winners randomly detectors game not found. Here is "diggin"!Larry

Accesories That Are Useful Together With The Metal Detector

Professionals and hobbyists use metal detectors. A geologist may use it to study minerals in the earth while those who do this for fun just want to find a some old coins or even jewelry and make a profit.

Regardless of the purpose, the individual still needs to get a metal detector to make this work. There are many brands out there in the market that look the same from the outside but once it is used; the person will be able to tell the difference.

Metal detectors may cost from $100 to more than $1200. This really depends on the skill level of the individual and what it is used for.

These devices are made of three major parts. These are namely the control boxes, which houses the battery, the microprocessor and the speaker, the shaft and lastly the coil, which is what the person uses in detecting metallic objects.

If the individual wants to save up on money, the best thing to do will be to buy the basic unit. This can be upgraded later on by investing in other accessories such as a larger coil, a longer shaft and even a headset to be worn when searching for buried treasure.

Aside from upgrading the metal detector, the person should also get some stuff that will be useful when the device senses something on the ground, which usually are the digging tools.

Carry this around may be hard while holding the detector on one hand. The best way to go searching will be to buy a bag preferably a knapsack or a duffel type version so this can be slung on one shoulder when moving along the assigned area.

Accessories for metal detectors can be ordered from the manufacturer online. The customer can pay for this using one's credit card, which does not include shipping, and handling meaning a few more dollars have to be added to the total amount.

If the price in the store is much cheaper, then it is better to get it here than online since the person can pay for this using cash, credit card or check. There is a chance that the preferred brand does not have its own store, which is why the company permits distributors to see the product.

It is possible to get a discount on certain accessories if the customer decides to buy two or more. This depends on the entirely on the retailer because some give these as freebies if the model chosen is one of the new ones that costs a bundle.

Beach Metal Detecting Treasures

Find lucky

Only I have to say about of my trip to the beach with my real excited about this one metales.Estoy detector because it broke my detection metal record.

We have a time share on the beach and take our holidays there each year during the past 26 years. the wife and I return to Myrtle Beach each year and not expect for next year.

Lower test and the car unloaded, packaged food drive, unpack suite cases and depending on the time, see will sit in the Sun and I am going with it, but if becoming later in the night, leaving my metal detector and the beach.

I usually start to detect metal along the edge of the water where people have been playing in the sand making sand castles playing with children with comets, balls Beach and have a good time enjoying life. I picked up several quarters, dimes, nickels few cans of lots of pennies, a bottle and tab pull out of beverage closures. People still break tab pull out drink cans and throw them on the beach, and bury the can in the sand when usually have a recycle bin within 20 feet.

Well I worked on my way down the beach metal detect picking up a little change here and there (two other guys with metal detectors were only buy) VI 4 girls and grandfather with metal detectors. Bought it all metal detectors (type of $ leaves) and had a great time. Had found a coin or two, but what matters is that they were having lots of fun.I spoke a few minutes with Grandpa and I started hunting again.

I am not going 20 ft when I got a signal (I use a scoop to dig sand that passes the sieves sand) sounded like a currency dime. One scoop was all that I took and passed the coil back on the ground and not to obtain a sound, so I knew that the target was in my scoop. Sift the sand bucket and saw that it was a ring.I picked up the ring and the Sun struck him, I knew the spark that had a ring of diamonds! went metal detection on the beach for a while and became later by returned to Timeshare unit.

When emptying my pockets, there were coins all sort, match, a slope and the treasure of all box cars a diamond ring!

Had 3 diamonds, the largest stone Center, clean eye, good color, square cut in 14 k Yellow Gold settings estimated between $ 1 and $ 1,500.00 800.00. This was the most valuable discovery I made metal detect! This discovery made my day and my whole week. Sorry for the person who lost the ring, and if I knew with certainty that they belong to me would return in a heartbeat.

This is a very good vacation you will never forget. Oh buy the way in which my wife says it was paid my metal detector (got the ring).

Best Gold Metal Detector for Your Use

A metal detector is not much of a complex device. It has three basic parts. The first one is the coil which can come in different shapes, a power supply and a control box. Bulk of the job rests on the control box because it is that one part that is ticked when there is metal around and this ticking is what causes the metal detector to do its job.

Even the entire process of how the device works can be simplified in two sentences but then again there is a degree of difficulty concerned when we talk about a detector who is trying to detect a specific kind of metal.

Of all the different kinds of metal detectors, probably one of the most important is the gold metal detector. It is pretty obvious that gold is an element that is worth a lot in many ways and this makes gold metal detectors a prized possession as well.

How metal detectors identify various metals is by testing the conductivity of the metal. A target signal is eliminated for unwanted metals like leftover iron & steel, pull tabs, bottle tabs and others in the same group while increasing target signals to high conductive metals as gold along with brass and silver.

Apart from gold hunting, coin & relic hunting are also expensive areas of metal detecting. The other interesting thing is the underwater & wading detecting. The use of metal detectors in these areas gives the device a character that will not square it into a box as just a device for security measure.

The differences of these metal detectors lie in their technology, type of ground balance, frequency it operates in and of course the capability to discriminate between the many types of metals.

Going back to gold metal detectors, gold mining companies invest in high quality gold metal detectors because they really need to find the best one in order to stay, survive or earn in the business.

If you are able to find the best gold metal detector that means it will be easier for the workers to find this precious metal meaning more money for everyone if you will not be successful then it means you invested in an equipment that is not so helpful. In the latter's case, you might need to discard your existing equipment and buy a better one or upgrade your existing one.

Becoming successful in detecting metal

Detection of metal is a very healthy and pleasant pastime, that almost anyone can take part in. The best part about metal detecting is that really does not matter who you are, what you are using metal detector or where their metal detecting, your will find something! Most of us but I would like to find something else that we want something, to find the good stuff, silver coins, gold rings, and other valuables, enabling talks about that.

You like anything else, the more practical for you and more effort put into metal better detect your going to do.There are two key elements to find the good stuff! one is learning to effective research to detect, two is knowing how to use the metal metal detector.

Research for the detection of metal is not difficult. In fact investigating to detect new places to metal can spend fun and very Yes mismo.Cuando adventure I mean research don't speak about the type of research, while in high school. Research for the detection of metal requires basic skills of communication, a library pass and some other common foundations that already has most of the people.

An advantage for the next production site can be found almost anywhere, while some of the most promising to find them places are in the local library, Court House or society historic. some other good places to find contacts are sales of garage, flee markets, or simply chat with some former members of their community. You on the objective is to find older documents, references to old documents, or the people who can tell of ancient places, its really so easy!

Old maps are a tool of great research, as well as old magazines and newspapers, all which can be found at your local library or historical society.

Once you find that hot to go point metal detecting your will have to learn how to use the detector of metal in order to have éxito.Como I mentioned earlier, the practice is your best friend! take her to a local park or swimming hole for a few days to a week metal detector more or less and dig everything, even those signals are not solid and sound as obvious garbage, you would be surprised some of the signs are therefore realmente.Una time you're pretty comfortable with its detectors metals then its ready to go! exit some of those sites that you have been investigating and find some goodies.

Alabama bound

I thank my wife for purchasing my Lone Star Metal Detector last Fathers Day for me. It has sat idly for most of the last year due to the amount of snow we get here in Colorado. In preparation for my third deployment to Iraq, I went on leave from mid June to mid July of this year (2008). Alabama has been home to my family for years and in the back of my mind I have always wanted to detect a particular section of my Families woods. Years ago, while deer hunting, I noticed some bricks in the middle of the woods where there shouldn't have been anything. I took my dormant Metal detector with me this time to Alabama and on day two I went to the old brick spot.

Right away I was getting beeps like crazy. I readjusted the sensitivity and Auto Notched the settings. I began to dig everything that beeped and was instantly rewarded with multiple prizes. I found over the next week, 2 old forged hoes, 1 shovel handle, half of an old watch, 2 metal bike seats, 1 metal tire ( I assumed was from an old baby buggy), 9 bullets, 2 of which I have matched with civil war era military bullets, multiple mason jar lids, a shovel head, part of an old plow and many other unidentified pieces of metal.

I may not get rich from my finds, but they helped to paint a picture of what life was like 100 years ago in the area. I had the greatest time doing this and have since returned to Fort Carson, Colorado, where I have found over 100 coins in the last week.

Thanks for reading and good luck to you all.

The purpose of MODERN METAL DETECTORS is to assist you in learning to be more successful when using your metal detector. I hope it will aid you in mastering your detector, rather than letting it master you. It is an all-encompassing, comprehensive reference and "how-to" guide to metal detectors. It is adaptable to your needs, whether you are just beginning, experienced, amateur, or professional. It is not intended to replace, but to supplement the other classic Ram Publishing Company metal detector books with their invaluable, up-to-date, "how-to" material. It traces metal detector history and development from start to present. It presents complete information about all land and underwater metal detector types, how they work, their characteristics, capabilities, applications and field uses. This book is filled with "how-to" instructions and explains every phase of metal detecting: electronic theory, metal detector design, electromagnetic fields, search matrix, metals and minerals, detection characteristics of metals, and many more subjects. Every person who has used a metal detector, or even thought someday he would, has questions about metal detectors. Often-heard questions are: "What is Discrimination and Ground Elimination?"; "What is a target classifier meter?"; "Can I go deeper if I use a larger search coil?"; and "Do I need a BFO, VLF, or Pulse Induction metal detector to find coins, caches and gold?" I have endeavored to present basic, all-encompassing, up-to-date detector knowledge, so that regardless of the problems and questions you have, you will be able to find your own answers. You'll be able to bench-test your detector and take it into the field for testing to learn what you want to know. If you should have questions, you'll have the knowledge you need to ask the right questions and to know if you get the right answers. A Glossary is included to help you build your vocabulary with a storehouse of metal detector terminology.

Building A Test Garden

For more than 30 years I have used test gardens for the hobby of metal detecting. I have three currently. Two of them are 5 feet square and the third is only 3 feet square. Why use a test garden?

A test garden serves several purposes. Foremost for me is learning the sounds of different targets. My first and oldest garden has 20 different targets buried between about 2 to 8 inches deep. It has taught me to distinguish sounds of iron objects shallow and deeper, aluminum targets ranging from pencil erasers, gum wrappers and various pull tabs. I have learned how to distinguish old nickels, Indian Head cents, war nickels as well as the pesky zinc pennies. Practicing with all my detectors and various coil sizes has made me more proficient than just depending on detector target ID systems. As a result of really getting to know my test gardens, I can also wisely choose detector brands when a given target has a strong probability based on my research of a given hunt site. Another basic use is to determine signal strength and intensity for select targets.

My favorite dimes are the Mercury and Barber coins. In garden two I have them buried from about 4 to more than 8 inches deep. Each of my Fisher 1200 series and my CZ 20 can locate all of the dimes. My various White's, Garrett and Minelab machines will locate most of them but not with the strength of signal of the Fisher units. I choose to use Tesoro detectors for nickel finds as I can distinguish better between old nickels and aluminum pull tabs. For relic hunting, Garrett Master Hunters and White's 5900 and 6000 units are my choices based on distinguishing different signals as well as their depth on bullets and Revolutionary and Civil War items. These are workhorse machines, rugged and powerful units excellent for both coin and relic hunting. I use my smaller test garden for 3 to 5 inch coils and the coins and other targets are buried at no more than 6 inches deep. I do not believe in overlapping good and bad targets to see the "breakthrough" capabilities of a given detector or coil. This does not exist in my opinion. Turn your discrimination up to knock out pull tabs and almost all good targets in the same area will also be missed. Numerous times in working beaches, I have uncovered gold and coin items only after the pull tabs were removed.

In my 5 by 5 test gardens, I place targets at about 8 to 10 inches apart and 20 targets is my maximum number of buried items. I make a map of the garden designating each item and the depth buried. I have the same number of items in my 3 by 3 garden as I place the targets at about 5 to 7 inches apart.

To build a test garden use a good detector with all metal capabilities and remove all buried signals from the area. Keep it away from utility lines above or below the ground. I recommend using items that are common to your hunting area. Mine contains items dug from schools, beaches, parks and ball fields. This is where I do most of my hunting and these targets will be my probable finds. I bury very few large good targets like silver halves or dollars. They are less common finds and are nice surprises when dug. Of the 150,000 coins I have dug, these large coins are less than 1/2 percent of my totals. Quarters make-up about 15%, nickels about 5%, dimes about 30% and pennies about 50% of all coin finds.

A third important use of test gardens is practicing pinpointing targets. Various detector coils have different centers of detection. Practice, practice, practice! You can learn to maximize your pinpointing skills. Hand in hand with pinpointing is the testing of retrieval tools. Probes, knives, spades and other tools need to be mastered so items are retrieved with little to no damage. Damaged coins are no fun. I did damage a semi-key half dollar 22 years ago. A very expensive small scratch on the reverse dropped the value of this 1900's era gem about 100 dollars. That was my last damaged coin. I use my test garden to assure this will not happen again.

Build your test garden and watch the quality and number of your good finds increase as you master the use of your treasure finding equipment. Here's to "diggin it"! Larry.

Cheap metal - an economical way to go treasure hunting detectors

Cheap metal detector allows you to go in their missions without creating a hole in your Pocket treasure hunt. If you are a beginner, it is advisable that you start with cheap metal detectors. There are two reasons for this. First you want to make sure this is something that really enjoy before spending much money. Secondly, the world likes to save a little money, and you can still get products of high quality at a reasonable price.

For all products, the quality varies with the price. Metal detectors are no exception. Those who come to cheaper rates are less sensitive than those that are expensive. And they have less features compared to the more expensive. On the other hand are extremely easy to operate. The majority of listeners of really high end better is used by someone with experience, because they are more complicated to operate. But the good news is less expensive not mean are bad calidad.Se products serve its purpose to the fullest.

There are many cheap metal detectors, this great work, and one that we recommend is the fourth of TRACTOR in bounty hunter.

Backup your metal detecting and research data!

Some of you are like me and like to keep metal detecting logs recording finds, including coin tallies, and places to hunt. I also like to record my thoughts on the day/hunt, keeping track of a useful tip I may have learned or noticed interesting behaviour on a target. Sometimes I like to review these during the 'off' season to get excited about my new Spring hunts.

Along with logging my hunts, I take many trips to the library with my laptop for research. Many libraries now offer microfilm transfers to flash drives. This is great for storing scans of newspaper clippings, and using a flash drive makes it nice and easy to transfer those files to my laptop. Besides microfilm scans I write my research notes and save Google Map documents for future or current hunt sites. Don't forget those old maps files off of the internet too.

Metal detecting data is extremely useful for my success in the field, and greatly organizes my thoughts for upcoming hunts. With that said, I treat my data very seriously. Six years ago, I had a complete harddrive failure and lost all of my early hunting logs and valuable research data. I was able to recover some of that from old print-outs that I had and email correspondence, but I lost a large portion of it.

The lesson I learned was to backup my data. Since then, I have been backing up to CD. This alternative was fine until, I became lazy and would forget to backup to disc, not to mention the stacks of CDs and the cost of purchasing the discs. I then opted to go with an external harddrive. This was better. It would back up nightly. I did run across a problem.. after deciding to take a look at the contents of the external harddrive, I realized it had died, and I was not backing my data at all from that point of it's failure!!!

I wanted to explore other options, and finally decided to go with Mozy Backups (http://www.mozy.com). This backup system is a 'off-site' backup, meaning that the backed up files are stored on a server on the internet. Why is this good? If my house burns down, I'm okay. If someone breaks into my house and steals my computer, I'm okay. Ever watch "It takes a thief" on Discovery, the thief always steals the computer in the house. Along with the fact that the data is stored on a remote server, the files are backed up securely and incrementally. This means that if I saved a file yesterday, but realized I deleted an entry from two days ago, I can recover the file from that day!

Did I mention that Mozy is FREE??? Well, it is. You can have a 2GB remote backup account for $0. If you want more storage you can purchase an unlimited storage account for only $4.95/month.

Once you've created a Mozy Account and downloaded/installed the backup program you can begin to configure your backups. After installing the program, log into the application on your computer, and select the encryption mechanism.

[x] encrypt my data with Mozy's own 448-bit key

You can use pre-existing backup set, or create custom backup set. After selecting a backup set (ie: C:\Research) to run, you can configure the schedule. One feature that I thought was nice, was to set it to backup when the computer is not in use. This means that backs will only happen when you are away. You won't notice any performance issues or slowness of your internet bandwidth while your working on your computer. Your computer must be on and connected to the internet though.

Restoring files is extremely simple. Clicking on the restore option will open up a web browser to Mozy's site. Log in and go to

Restore Files. There is representation of your directory tree structure that you created. Drill down to your file(s), add a check and click 'Restore Files'. An email will be sent after restoration has been completed.

The 2GB free account is nice for backing up spreadsheets and word docs, but you'll probably use it up quickly if you're backing up scans of your finds or microfilm captures. If you're planning on backing up images, it might be best to upgrade your account. Either way, it's nice to give it a try for free.

Remember, once you lose your data.. you can't get it back, so back it up!

Buying a Used Metal Detector

Buying a used metal detector should be a well thought out process before you jump the gun and purchase just any detector. The process should follow the questions below. Once you answer each question, you will be ready to purchase a detector and start hunting.

Who Am I buying The Detector For?

The majority of metal detectors available either used or new are geared towards the adult user. If you are looking to purchase one for a child, get a model or brand that is described as being a detector for children. These machines can be too complicated for a kid to grasp. Teenagers should not have much of a problem using most of the available detectors but may need a little tutoring from an adult when getting started.

What Type Of Hunting Will I Be Doing?

Metal detectors basically fall into two groups: land units and underwater units. Most of the underwater detectors can be used on land, but you cannot take a land detector underwater. If you plan on looking for sunken treasure on your next diving adventure, be sure to get an underwater detector.

There are also detectors made for the various types of land hunting - coin and jewelry, relics, gold, etc. Each of the major manufacturers like White's, Garrett, Tesoro, Bounty Hunter, Minelab and Fisher make and have made metal detectors specifically suited better for certain types of treasure hunting. You need to decide what you will primarily hunt for and pick the appropriate brand and model.

Which Metal Detector Should I Buy?

After deciding how you will use your detector, you need to learn more about the older metal detectors that you usually find used. To do this consult the online forums such as FindMall or TreasureNet. Many of the forum members have been metal detecting for years and have used many different brands and models. You can benefit from their experience! Another method is to read the ads in the older treasure magazines such as Lost Treasure, Western & Eastern Treasure and True Treasure. In some of these magazines, you can even find tests conducted on certain models of metal detectors.

Unless you will be relic hunting somewhere in a rural area, be sure to get a detector with discriminating capability. The discriminating metal detector will allow you to tune out most junk such as pull tabs from aluminum soda cans, foil and bottle caps. If you're looking forward to a search in a local park, you will definitely need to block signals from junk!

How Much Should I Spend?

Once you decide on the brand and model, spend as little as possible on the used detector. Keep an eye on the market for this detector by using an auction site such as eBay or others. You will find that used metal detectors will usually go for about the same price time after time. The going price may vary a little depending what accessories may or may not be included. With this research, you will be equipped with the knowledge to buy your detector at the market price or even lower.

NOTE: Check pricing often so you can jump on any deals that may appear.

Where Can I Buy A Used Metal Detector?

Just like exercise equipment that gets little or no use by their owners, metal detectors are often used very little and are just left in the garage or basement gathering dust. This is a good thing for you!

If you do not care to wait, you can find used metal detectors at garage/yard sales, pawn shops, flea markets, newspaper classifieds and estate sales. You may not have the advantage of finding a specific brand or model, but you can usually find a good deal.

You can also find a metal detector at the online classified ads sites such as CraigsList. Be very cautious when buying this way and insist the seller provides a telephone number so you can discuss the detector before any purchase.

When you're shopping for a specific machine, the best place to find them are at the online metal detector stores and auction sites such as eBay or others. Most of these sites accept Paypal or credit cards for the purchase. In either case, you will be covered in case the detector has a problem.

El Talisman (A true story)

It had been about 9 months since my mother died when my sister called. She wanted me to go over to her house and look at some of mom's belongings and to decide what I wanted for me. Shortly after I arrived she showed me mom's jewelry box with a lot of items in it.

There were some beautiful rings and a lot of other stuff, pennies, old pins, pictures etc. While browsing through the box I noticed some big coin on the bottom.

"What is that?" I asked.

It was about the size of a dollar coin, kind of a silverish color, and had weird signs on it. I could see a triangle, a star and some wiggly lines, but no date. My sister did not know what it was and neither did I. I picked it up and looked at it.

"Do you want it?" my sister asked.
"Yea I guess so, maybe I can find out what it is."

Went back to the house later and looked at the "coin" more carefully now. It had ridges like a coin but it was not a coin. Some of the signs on the coin were stars and what looked like small suns. Slowly it dawned on me what it was. I remembered seeing the commercial in Mexican TV channels. It was called "El Talisman" and it was supposed to be some kind of good luck charm and was meant to bring you riches and good fortune, a scam to get money from unsuspecting people. Mother had probably sent for it through the mail. Mom had been bedridden for years due to the effects of rheumatoid arthritis on her joints. She could hardly move but was a whiz with the remote control. Most likely when she received it, it was thrown in the box for safekeeping. I took the coin and for no particular reason put it in the cup container of my pick up.

Weeks went by and one day this buddy of mine called asking if I wanted to go detecting. Sure let's go, I said. I picked him up and we decided to go to a school playground in a nearby town that we had not visited in years. We knew the playground was closed and locked but the plan was to find someone to give us permission to get in. When we got there we found the head custodian. My buddy went inside to ask permission, he's good at getting permission, and when he got back he had big smile on his face.

"Let's go!! We got permission"

The playground is about one and a half acres big, lots of ground for lost clad to be found. When I parked my pickup I noticed the talisman in the cup holder. I grabbed it and put it in my pocket. Once inside my buddy and I split up each going to one end of the play area. We had both been going at it for about an hour and I had almost nothing to show for it, two quarters and a dime. Wondering how my buddy was doing, I slowly worked my way towards him. When we crossed paths I asked "How's it going?"

His response blew me over.
"Fantastic!! Already got me a silver ring, about 20 quarters and lots of dimes! Gonna be a good day!"

I could not believe he was doing so well, especially since we were using the same model detector, a RS2200, and we were hunting the same field. He didn't ask how my day was and I did not volunteer any info. I worked my way back with the same results, hardly anything. I then remembered the talisman in my pocket. Supposedly the commercial said all one had to do was rub the coin and ask it for anything and the wish would be granted. Why not?? Let me give it a try. I reached in my pant pocket and felt for the coin. Rubbing it I said "Talisman, if you are genuine let me find lots of clad," or words to that effect. Two steps later and as if on cue I found a couple of quarters together. Then the coins started to come in, quarters, dimes in pairs, lots of pennies. I even started to dig the low tones and started to find lots of nickels. I could now feel the weight of the coins in my pocket and but I was starting to get uneasy with each find. The more I found the more uneasy I felt. Was this so called talisman really working?? Was it for real?? Was I getting myself into some kind of evil pact with an unknown force? "Just my imagination" I tried to convince myself.

I kept going for another hour or so and the coins kept coming. I started to work my way back to my buddy to tell him we needed to leave. I wanted to go. I felt I needed to get out of there. Then I thought, I know how I can find out if this is real. Reaching inside my pocket, I found the talisman and this time I said "Talisman if you are really real you will find for me a gold ring. Find me one and I will believe." Anyone that has detected before knows how hard it is to find a gold ring out in the field-almost impossible with all the pull tabs. Another 45 minutes later and no ring, I started to feel better about my clad finds. "All in my head" I thought.

Then my buddy called out and said "I think we should go. Just let me make one small round here and let's get us something to drink."

OK by me. I already had a bunch of coins and felt tired. So I walked over to a nearby ash tree to get some shade and wait for him dragging my detector as I went. When I got under the tree I got a low pull tab/nickel tone.

"Just another pull tab", I thought and slowly started to dig it out. On the second prodding of the lesche, out popped a GOLD RING!! I felt my eyes widen and my jaw drop!! Oh my God!! It is true!!

I was still gawking at my find when Art gets there. "What did you find??" He saw the ring and congratulated me. "All right!! We can go now"

I never said anything to Art about the talisman or what I thought had been happening. I was feeling very nervous and had this weird uneasy feeling inside. Now don't get me wrong. I am no bible thumping churchgoer but I do believe in God, do go to church and do believe there are evil forces out there. I knew what I had to do. As we were on our way home I reached inside my pant pocket, pulled out the talisman, and threw it out the window into some high brush by the road.

I sent the gold ring along with other gold finds to a refinery to get assayed. Since then I have found lots of other gold rings and lots of clad and that incident has become a memory only. The Talisman??--- Well as far as I know it is still there by the roadside under some brush waiting for someone else to find it. Was it really real? Was it really evil? Did that Talisman really allow me to find the clad and the gold ring? I ask myself those questions still and come up with the same answer---I don't want to know!!

Choosing Your Metal Detector

If you are planning on going treasure hunting, one of the best tools you can buy for the job of finding precious metals, coins, and relics is a metal detector. Metal detectors come in all different models and versions from all different manufacturers. Here are some thoughts about the wide array of detectors available to you...

This is a list of some of the reputable brands of metal detectors available today: Tesoro, Whites, Minelab, Garrett, Bounty Hunter, C-Scope, Fisher. As you can see, there are plenty to pick from! Which company should you go with? It is mostly a matter of personal preference. The different brands have different looks, average prices (higher-average, lower-average), and different models designed especially for certain purposes.

Here are some ideas about a few of the companies listed above... Tesoro Electronics builds quality metal detectors. I own a Tesoro Compadre model metal detector and have found it to be a very good quality metal detector, especially as a starter metal detector. Tesoro detectors are distinctive for their cool model names, western-looking colors on their detectors, and the fact that many of their models don't have a screen, just the control knobs. If you feel like you must have a screen or a meter that tells you how deep the target is, or maybe even makes a guess at what the target is, try a Whites. Whites is a legendary company, a name sort of like Case to knife collectors. As such, many of Whites detectors are pretty high priced, but you can still get their basic detector for around $200. Bounty Hunter metal detectors are popular and widely advertised. The Bounty Hunter line includes inexpensive kid and starter detectors, and advanced models.

These are just some ideas to get you started. The idea though, is that there are plenty of metal detectors available, just find one you like and go with it, have a great time metal detecting!

Detection of metal - description of the technology is important

Detection of metal for fun or profit can be one of the most exciting and rewarding of hobbies. A metal detector can cost very little, as low as $ 50 or above $ 400 for a major model line. It is a hobby where you really get what you pay, because the most expensive peak detectors line uses the latest technology and they have the best features available.

Metal detectors using one of the three types of technology:

(Beat oscillation frequency) - BFO detector of metal, using the BFO technology have two coils of wire, a large coil is in search of the detector coil another small coil of wire is in the module control system. Each coil cable is connected to an oscillator that produces current pulses. These pulse current passing through the coils generate radio waves.A receiver hosted within the module control system receives radio waves and a series of tones that relies on radio.Cuando passes on a currency detector search or other metallic element that creates a magnetic around of the currency or the element of metal coil wave frequencies, this magnetic field causes interference with the frequency of radio waves generated by the coil search. And changes the tone produced by the TV.

Using metal detectors BFO technology are that its likely get when paying in $ 100, the cheapies is correct. BFO technology is the easier and cheaper to do, therefore, the prices of detectors are cheap. The only problem is that the BFO technology is very limited compared with IP and BFO detector, and the ability to distinguish between the litter metals and silver or other currencies is very poor.

PI (press induction) - metal, using IP technology sometimes detectors use a single coil or a series of working together as a transmitter and receptor.Breves burst of electrical current is sent through a coil of wire, causing a magnetic field coil. When the burst of electrical current completes the polarity of the magnetic field reversals. Creates a strong electrical spike, then create pulses more, throughout the process is repeated, and works as a series of echoes, giving a different report or echo depending on the metal that is. This type of metal detector is not very good for discrimination between different types of metals and coins, but it is good to use where some other types of metal detectors have problems to work, as in salt water, and can be detected much deeper this technology to other metals.

VLF (Very Low Frequency) - using this technology metal detectors have two search coils. A coil called 'transmitter coil' transmits electricity rapidly many times per second, first in one direction around of the coil, and then in the other direction. The other coil called the receiver Coil acts as the name implies that it receives the frequencies or data coming or 'bounce' between transmitter coil objects is detected in the search area. This type of metal detector is ideal for its ability to be able to distinguish between different types of metals.

The first metal detector my wife and I bought together costs about $ 69.00 was one of the cheap used 'BFO' technology. This was one of detectors metals that you see in magazines that sell other items for the home, etc. You can buy cheap metal detectors as these Radio Shack stores best and some K posts and posts first Wal.El day we took the metal detector was started to find some things of neet and my wife and I were hooked. We find our quota of unwanted in the courtyard, role of aluminium, nails and usual extraction and junk metal tabs as elements. But we also find 7 cars blocker in great condition. They were all different and be Blocker TOOTSIE vehicles.I looked on eBay and the bunch was worth about $ 15 or más.También find Penny Roosevelt 1961 silver in good condition, in our yard, apart from the usual pence.

To read about how the 3 different types of metal detector technologies of working and differ from each other, must decide how or what most used his para.Va metal detector hunting of small objects such as coins, jewels and gold nuggets or looking for a large cache or the objeto.Las things that you might want to use your listener, playing one of the most important addition of pricing in deciding what kind of detector for comprar.Mayoría people want a detector that is large in search of currencies, gold nuggets, and jewelry in land and small creeks and streams factors, this would be a detector using 'VLF' technology.Almost all modern listeners have a coil waterproof search that searches in little deep ravines and possible streams.

There is software that is only performed for the hobby metal.El detection software is called: metal - detector Treasure Hunter Professional and can be seen in the direction of this website:

Good Medicine

A few months ago I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Now after surgery to remove my kidney, I found myself laid up in bed recuperating for at least a month. This was driving me nuts! All I could do was ease my way to the bathroom and surf the web. I must have Google?d every topic I could think of and then some. Two weeks of lying there was really working on me. Too much time to think about the ?what if?.

Anyway I searched for detectors one day and I was hooked. I had watched someone swing a big heavy metal cased detector many years before and it had always fascinated me. I ordered a Garret Ace 250 and figured it would come in about the time I was getting up and about. To my surprise it came within three days and I sat in bed with the ace spread out everywhere.

Well I couldn't stand it any longer. I dressed and made my way to the back yard. It felt great to be outside in the sunshine and just knowing that my wife wasn't around to get on to me made it even sweeter. (She had gone to the office.) I wasn't supposed to pick up over ten pounds, so I took it real easy. The Ace is a gem, it was easy to setup and use and within moments I was hitting targets all over my back yard. Needless to say I couldn't bend over to dig any of my new found treasures, but it was a joy just to get out and swing; even if it was very short time.

Within days I had regained much of my strength and was able to walk around with less discomfort. I couldn't wait to go back into the yard, so I took my Ace and trowl and claimed my treasures. Mostly pennies but fun none the less. I've pretty well recovered now and I'm planning a camping trip with my family. You can bet I will be bringing my now two detectors with us. Detecting gave me the needed desire and exercise I needed to help me heal.

I hope to be detecting for a long time and when I hit the big one I'll drop you a line.

Fisher F-2 - A Super Start-Up Metal Detector

I have been a big fan of Fisher Metal Detectors since the early 70's. I have owned 15 different models and found nearly 100,000 coins and nearly 400 gold rings utilizing these fine instruments. from the Medalert 11 to the cz20, I have only had to have one repaired as Fisher makes durable, quality machines that pay for themselves over and over again. I am very excited about the latest start-up unit the F-2. The 1210 and 1212x units were and are amazing start-up machines, but I can only say WOW when I use the F-2. Contact a Fisher dealer and grab this unit up while the 4" coil is still a bonus. I would! It is the best machine for the buck that I have owned. This innovative detector has more features than most detectors selling in the $500 to $600 range.

Here are the F-2's Feaures:

Target Display with numbers from 0 to 99 (very large numbers)

Depth Meter

Battery Meter

Sensitivity Control

Target Groups for Notch

Tone ID

Pinpoint Button

Power Button

Adjustable Settings: Sensivity, Discrimination, Notch

All of this for $199. The F-2 comes with a stock 8" coil plus a hot 4" coil with extra lower rod and hardware. Again I say WOW!

I took the F2 to my test gardens to see what it is capable of doing. With the standard 8" loop I was able to detect every coin buried up to eight inches deep. Silver dimes at 6 to 7 inches were weak signals as were silver quarters at 7 to 8 inches. Wheat cents gave good signals down to about 5 to 6 inches and old nickels came in at 6-7 inches in both of my 5 Feet square gardens. This is very impressive depth for a low end detector. My amazement with this light weight unit dramatically increased when I switched to the 4 inch coil and went to my trash garden to give it a real workout and test its TID system. This 3 feet square garden has a variety of pop tops and pull tabs going all the way back to the early 70's plus pencil erasers, foil, chewing gum paper/packages, etc. All the junk you would find in a schoolyard or sport stadium plus new and old coins in close proximity.

The newer pull tabs read between 33-35 and most nickels read at 30 to 32 with a few hitting 33. In a matter of minutes I could distinguish between almost every tab and both my older and newer nickels. Incredible! No nickel read higher than 33 and most tabs read 34 or 35. I have never found a start-up unit that can do this. Tesoro has some of the best differentiating units for nickels verses tabs, but my units selling for $500 -$700 dollars did not outperform the F-2. The Fisher 4" coil also proved itself depth wise. The nickels and dimes at 5 to 7 inches deep came in very clear, the target system was very stable and the response speed on this coil is fantastic. I was so impressed with this small coil, that I chose to use it at the beach, my high school stadium and old school yard test spots.

In a four hour period at Sponger Stadium, I dug up 211 coins with a face value of $19.55. Nothing old and exciting as field was built after silver disappeared from circulation. Yet 53 coins an hour is very good production. That is almost a coin a minute. This is my 2nd highest four hour total at this stadium in more than 35 years hunting there. In 1985 using a Fisher 1260 with a 4" coil, I took 244 coins in this time period. That was the premier top of the line detector of that time frame and I paid over $400. on a Christmas special. Do you understand why I keep saying WOW about this F-2?

At my old school yard the most aggravating signal is the aluminum pencil erasers that can be found eveywhere. My wife was in the first graduating class of this elementary school back somewhere in the 50's (I dare not age her). I tried to find out why this school has 10 times more aluminum erasers than any other schoolyard I have hunted. She and none of her school buddies could answer my question. Guess what? It is no longer a problem. From my trash garden, then to the school grounds, I learned to target and notch this menace out. In 2 hours I found 20 coins including a 1913 Canadian Quarter, a 1936 Buffalo Nickel and 2- 1945 wheat cents and did not dig up one pencil eraser. This school closed down a few years ago and any coins are leftovers as the grounds are fenced in and only a few people are given permission to even walk the old campus grounds and play areas.

I have used top of the line Garrett, White, Minelab, Tesoro and Bounty Hunter units along with my Fisher cz20 and have found fewer coins than this. My trip to the Tarpon Springs Beach with the F-2 was short-lived as rain came within 10 minutes. However, I did recover a nice sterling earring and three pennies. I will not use this instrument in the water as fresh or salt water intrusion would desroy this great little detector. In fact, I am convinced that the F-2 with its 4 inch coil will outperform any detector with a similar size coil. It is fast, it is stable and it goes very deep. WOW! I would charge no less than $60-$100 for the 4" addition. Here's to "diggin it"! Larry

Detection of metal - hunting in the currency or currencies of fire hot spots

Game currency or 'Coin throw' as it is often referred to, is not only fun to do, but that can easily be very profitable. Search for a single piece of gold or any rare coin can easily afford the metal detector. When it comes to game currency or 'Coin throw', there are some places that I call 'hot spots', or the best places.
Riverbanks - Ponds - Lakes - swimming holes: these locations is a true treasure top game. The Riverbank is a huge area that can provide a lifetime of detection. River banks were used as ferry crossings, and some were covered with stations toll bridges. The local old timers may be able to tell where they were local fisheries and old swimming spots. Remember that many of the old fishing spots also were drinking and partying and holes that a lot of people swimming spots took off from its outerwear, losing change as did them. And it goes back even before the age of, people would take their clothes on the banks of the rivers to wash them in water. The same applies to the former ponds farm, many were used as a favorite summertime swimming spot flat or picnic.Los area banks and on the banks of rivers, ponds, streams, lakes, etc., are great places for coins, jewelry, trinkets, and much more.
Schools - churches: also are 'Hot' areas for detecting, most cities or rural areas have a school, some have multiple metal. Schools that are currently open during the season of the school are a great place to find modern coins and even a few coin dressed, also many trinkets, blocker cars and cheaper jewels that easily to find articles on the grounds of modern school.
If you are so fortunate as I am, then you live in a rural area or country that keeps many of their old edificios.Sé where there are two old buildings that served as the one room school houses these places were opened in the 1800 late in the early 1940s. Imagine the wonderful believes that you can hide these ancient motifs. Old school-room houses also served as churches, social lounges, farm and as meeting places for the scouts, grange buildings societys ladies aid and more.
Many old churches and houses the school room there had own treasures, that the right chests. When these buildings were constructed, the local children and adults would bury a chest for reasons or under a cornerstone of the building. Chest was a kind of capsule containing coins, newspapers and other unique items from the time when the building was built. Many of these old rotten buildings away in time, and people forgot buried time capsule located near the cornerstone.
Land where the search is a church is like finding a pirate booty, you never know what you find. And a lot of churches is very old, even many of the modern are like schools, they are built on land where he was old. The churches were often the first buildings built in many cities. Right here where live are numerous churches, and one was built in the early 1700s. The church buildings not only hosted people on Sunday, but most were sites wedding, reception rooms, dance halls, dinner sites, ice cream social locations, places group meeting and much more.
Woods - forest can be impressive for the detection of metal if one knows what to look for. Search paths, are good places to detect to what paths largo.Antiguos forest served as shortcuts to open fields for farmers to get their computers through, or livestock to follow and more.In a zone forest not far from where I grew up as a child I know where there is an old, now grown way with trees and shrubs, most people could ignore it or don't know your grandfather historia.Mi and father built road by blasting stumps with dynamite and hand cut trees.Uses the path to quickly obtain tractors and other machinery from farm to another field open than the number of times that my own father and grandfather bosques.Imagínense probably sat on that old, eat your lunch or sipping some fresh lemonaid than the shadow of a large tree road.Anytime that someone sat down for a lunch eating road, that would be often tire an old hanky fabric of your pocket to blow their noses or even wipe your mouth, often loses some pocket change at the same time.
Other metal rare but great site which can be found in the forest discovery often is old stone foundations and ancient stone fireplaces, each has the potential for a rare gold coin or a jug $ silver viejas.Recuerde, at the same time, this ancient base of stone or fireplace was part of a House of family, with children playing, parties and numerous outdoor activities.
Some other large metal detection sites are - parks, beaches, Old Ball parks, Fairgrounds, campsites, camps, Ghost Towns, battlefields, Old picnic Spots.Make sure that you have permission to search and dig anywhere to make their detection.
There is software that is only performed for the hobby metal.El detection software is called: ' metal - Detector Treasure Hunter Professional ' and can be seen in the direction of this website:

Hidden Treasures at the Beach

There is nothing more rewarding than to hit the Beach about daylight with a good metal detector, when there are a few people out, the fresh ocean breeze, you and the vast ocean sand hiding all those treasures. You turn your metal detector on get it tuned in for beach hunting and ready for adventure.

If you are metal detecting, on a beach where the life guards rent umbrellas and beach chairs this area to hunt first. This area people spend most of their time plus the kids play in these areas and are more likely to lose Treasures. The life guards start putting out the umbrellas around 7:30am and you want to beat them before they get in your way. The city is out early with equipment to rake the beach and pick up trash and they could pick up the ropes, chains and bracelets along with the trash, but there is always plenty of (stuff) rings, bracelets, necklaces, coins, match box cars, watches, and lots of other Treasures.

If you are new at metal detection, I suggest you get a good detector to start with like Whites, Garrett or Minelab these are good machines and they do a good job. Don't waste your money on cheap detectors all you will find are rusty nails and bottle caps if you are lucky you may find a coin or two. I have used all thee and now using a Minelab Xterra 70 it is a good machine for hunting coins, jewelry and prospecting for gold and hidden Treasures. The Xterra70 is good for sandy beach hunting, mineralized land, and trashy area. It has coin and jewelry setting, prospecting and beach setting and discrimination settings.

I was out medal detecting, in the late afternoon after most people went in for dinner. I found a few coins and was working my way down the beach when a young man ran up to me and ask if I would help him and his sister find a ring she had lost on the beach. I told him I would be glad too but I couldn't promise him I would find it. He said well please try, it was their mother ring and she just passed away last year. The sister looked like she was in her early teens.

What happened she laid the ring on the beach towel while she went swimming and when she came back she picked the towel up to shake the sand off, well you know the rest. They had sifted sand for two hours with no luck.

Well we knew the general area and I started metal detecting, and in about 5 to 8min. I got a signal and scoped up the hidden Treasure. It was a small ring with a little Turquoise stone. The little girl hugged my neck and thanked me and the brother took out his wallet and hand me $60.00 and I refused the money. I didn't want their money I was happy I found the ring for them. I started to leave and the he ask me to wait their dad wanted to talk to me, I said ok. Where is your dad? He said he went to town to buy a metal detector, he should be here in a few minutes.

When the dad arrived he thanked me again very much. The ring was not worth much money but it was everything to them. The dad handed me a rolled up bill about the size of a cigarette, I handed it back but he refused and insisted I take the money, so I put it in my pocket, thanked them and went back to hunting.

I started metal detecting, back up the beach picking up a few coins and a few pieces of trash. It was getting late I decided to go to the room. When I got to the room and emptied my pockets I unrolled the bill the guy gave me and it was a $100.00 bill.

Well that was a good metal detecting, day! I found a hand full of coins, a match box car, a silver bracelet, a man wedding ring, and the Treasure I found for the little girl. It was a rewarding day at the beach and the biggest reward was finding the ring for the little girl.

Ice Cream Cone Reward

When I was living and working in Avenel N.J. I hunted the beaches south of Sandy Hook every weekend for the entire summer. One day when the wind was really blowing, there were only a couple people on the beach. I was detecting near the dunes. I had a pocket full of clad coins when I noticed a very old woman with 2 little girls about 30 yards or so that seemed like they were having trouble. I worked my way closer and saw that the little girls were crying and the lady was very upset and in tears. I walked over to them and asked what was wrong. The lady acted scared of me. She thought that I was there to harm them. After I calmed her down she imparted this story to me.
The 2 little ones were her great granddaughters, and she was just brought them to the beach for the day. She laid her blanket down and took off her $1400 diamond ring and her very expensive 24" gold necklace that her departed husband bought her in 1940. She put them down on the blanket and covered them with a towel. Then she walked into the water with one of the girls, leaving the other little one at the blanket. She was in the water for a few minutes. Upon returning to the blanket the jewelry was gone..
The one girl shook of the sand from the blanket and the articles went flying. They were looking for them when I saw her from the distance. I told her what I was doing and would look for them for her. I was searching about 15 or 20 feet away from them when I turned around and they were packing up to leave. Then BINGO I got a great signal and there they were. The ring was tangled up in the necklace. I grabbed them and walked over to them and said, ARE THESE THEM?
She and the little girls screamed with joy and started crying even more. She offered me a nice reward but I turned it down. I told her to buy the little ones a Ice Cream Cone and don't punish the girl. Then the girls quit crying and started laughing. All 3 of them hugged me and then they started for their car and I went on my merry detecting way. That was one of my very best days in this hobby. The Ice Cream Treat for the little girls was the best reward I could have ever hoped for.
